Since he was a young man, Palmer has been inspired by the beauty and strength of horses. Growing up in the Alief neighborhood of Houston, Palmer was put to work in his mom’s landscaping business at an early age. It was tough. And it was hot. As a treat for her five children, Palmer’s mom Ada would take the kids horseback riding. These are some of Palmer’s fondest childhood memories and a reason why painting horses gives him an amazing sense of peaceful nostalgia. Palmer’s skill in painting horses lies in his ability to capture their rapid movement. It is as if they are racing right off of the canvas.
