Artist Statement

“Art is healing. As many of you know, I started painting full-time as a means of therapy after the unexpected loss of my father in 1998. I had a deeply personal connection with the city of Berlin this year because I believe it too continues to go through a healing process. After the atrocities of war, genocide, and Communist occupation, the German capital is now moving forward and enjoying the now while at the same time learning from and not forgetting the past. Words that I would use to describe Berlin would be: energetic, modern, regal, and efficient. It is with these four themes that I, with passion, created the Berlin 2010 series.

Through my art movement of Escapism, it is my life mission to destroy the stereotype of the struggling artist. Through hard work, dedication, and business ingenuity, artists can thrive and achieve financial success. In my life and professional experience, I have often seen artists erect a wall around them, which perpetuates this struggling-stereotype. They put themselves in the wrong vehicle to win–and then due to a lack of confidence and support, they don’t know how to change their environment. I want to help artists tear down this wall.”
